It is with heavy hearts that we inform the BCC Community of the passing of “Mr. Baltimore City College Alumni Association” – Leo Sirota BCC of 1947 and Hall of Fame member. Mr. Sirota passed on Sunday, December 11, 2016. He was “the heart and soul” of the BCCAA and literally bled “Black and Orange” so much so that the BCCAA Alumni of the Year award is named in his honor. Mr. Sirota’s legacy is interwoven in the threads of the BCCAA, Inc as we have adopted his mantra “Lead, follow or get out of the way!” in all that we do. He will be deeply missed. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at Sol Levison & Bros. Inc. 8900 Reisterstown Road at Mount Wilson Lane. Funeral services for Leon Armour (Lt. Col. USAF Ret., BCC Hall of Fame member, and BCC Class of 1958, who died on August 3, 2015, have been scheduled. The details are: Family Hour on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 10:00 until 11:00am to be followed by the funeral service at Alfred Street Baptist Church-301 S. Alfred Street-Alexandria, Virginia. Mr. Armour was the first African-American to graduate from the A Course at City, an USAF fighter pilot during the Vietnam War, and delivered an address to the graduates at the commencement for the Baltimore City College Class of 2008. |
