Women of City
Formed in September 2008 by former president, Carla Henry Hopkins, ’83, this group is co-chaired by Board of Governors Member, Leah Douthard, ’89, Lori Young and at-large member, Cinese Caldwell. This group was created as a direct result of a successful alumni reception celebrating the 30th anniversary of BCC female graduates, attended by more than 40 women and supportive men alum representing years 1978-2005 at the BWI Westin Hotel in June 2009. This event proved there was a need to develop a group that would cater to the interests and needs of alumnae and female students in general. For the “All Class Reunion” hosted in November 2009, the Women of City organized a hospitality suite to welcome and reconnect female graduates in attendance and introduce the initiatives to be undertaken by the group. Group members were solicited at this event and on December 11, 2009, a group of committed and passionate alumnae met to begin strategizing next steps.
The Women of City group has three key priorities:
(1) Mentoring current female students to support the growth, development and understanding of the school traditions and values/character of City women
(2) Building alumnae connections to support networking, professional development and general spirit of sisterhood among women graduates
(3) Developing avenues for fundraising to support current female student programs and alumnae events.

This group meets regularly, with working committee meetings throughout the year (based on the project needs). If you are interested in getting involved, please email [email protected].
